Ardmore is a city in Delaware and Montgomery counties in the state of Pennsylvania. Originally named “Athensville” in 1853, the community and its railroad station were renamed “Ardmore” in 1873 by the Pennsylvania Railroad, on whose Main Line, west out of Philadelphia, Ardmore sits. Today, that vibrant mall serves as a pedestrian friendly alternative to suburban megaplexes, while Lancaster Avenue, Ardmore’s main street, runs a parallel strip of eclectic family-owned businesses in historic buildings.
