Trenton is a city in Mercer County, New Jersey. It is the capital of New Jersey and the county seat for Mercer County. The city was home to a famous revolutionary war battle on December 26, 1776. Although officially part of the Philadelphia media market, Trenton is considered a part of the New York metropolitan area. Trenton became New Jersey’s capital as of November 25, 1790, and the City of Trenton was formed within Trenton Township on November 13, 1792.
New Jersey State House of Trenton – The New Jersey State House of Trenton is the gathering place for New Jersey’s state representatives. Built in 1790, it is the 3rd oldest state house in the country. It was designed by Philadelphia based architect Johnathan Doane.
